SAVE THE DATE
The
2007 Responsible Retailing (RR) Forum's 5th
national meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday – Wednesday,
May 8 and 9, 2007 in Santa Fe, NM at the El Dorado Hotel and Spa.
Conference information and electronic registration will be available in early
February. Please check back soon for more information.
The
RR Forum has become a mechanism by which retailers of age-restricted
products, and the agencies that enforce underage sales laws, can
interact with academic researchers to investigate Best Practices
for preventing underage sales. The RR Forum has also become the
principal venue to examine responsible retailing practices and policies
from the perspective of diverse stakeholders: public health and
enforcement agencies; state attorneys general; health foundations;
researchers; retailers and their associations; and producers and
their associations/foundations.
Last Year’s RR Forum
The
4th RR Forum was held in Washington, D.C. on April 18-20, 2006
at the Marriott Metro Center. The meeting was attended by individuals
from 29 states representing retailers and their associations, producers
and distributors, regulatory and enforcement agencies, state and
federal public health and safety agencies, advocates, RR training
organizations, and researchers. As in prior national meetings,
the RR Forum examined issues of underage sales prevention at the
level of (a) store and chain, (b) community, and (c) state RR policy.
